On April 9, 2025, the U.S. Senate voted 52-44,1 along party lines, to confirm the nomination of Paul Atkins as chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In the coming days, Atkins will be sworn in as chair, joining Republican Commissioners Mark Uyeda and Hester Peirce, and Democratic Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, who issued a joint statement welcoming Atkins as the next Chairman of the SEC.
